Another fourth quarter rally by the Bobcats comes up just short as the New York Knicks ended a four-game losing streak to Charlotte with a 98-94 win at Madison Square Garden.
In spite of starting the game without co-captain Gerald Wallace, who was inactive because of a severe headache, and finishing the night without Stephen Jackson, who left the game in the third quarter with back spasms, the Bobcats battled back from a 12-point defecit and nearly sent the game into overtime. With a chance to tie the game with less than two seconds remaining, Acie Law’s layup attempt was blocked by New York’s Danilo Gallinari to preserve the win for the Knicks.
Raymond Felton led the Bobcats with 27 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 41 minutes. Tyson Chandler recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The Bobcats outrebounded the Knicks 44-34, but the game was decided behind the 3-point arc, where New York hit on 11-of-25 attempts and Charlotte connected on just 5-of-18. Wilson Chandler led the Knicks in scoring with 26, and was one of five New York shooters to make at least one 3-pointer.
