Wallace named to USA Men’s National Team
Wallace honored to be selected
I’d just like to take a second to say congrats to Gerald Wallace for being one of the 27 members named to the 2010-12 USA Basketball Men’s National Team. The competition from this point will be both interesting and unpredictable as the 12-man roster is eventually chosen. However, if Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s comments to me in Wednesday’s conference call are a precursor, Wallace could have a realistic shot at lacing up his shoes for the USA.
“Gerald is one of the best athletes in the NBA,” said Krzyzewski. “I think he can help us on both ends of the court and has been playing lights out basketball for Larry Brown’s team. That kind of athleticism is something that we want in this pool and on the two teams we’ll put together. We’re going to play fast and play really hard defensively, and I think that Gerald will do both of those things.”
As we’ve all seen time and time again, anything is possible when GW steps out onto the court. Let’s all cheer him on as he looks to make another dream come true.
