Cason sees Bobcats becoming a hot ticket

Whenever the Bobcats have a home game I get texts from people I never hear from otherwise. “Hey Britt, are you going to the game? Can you get tickets or VIP Frontcourt passes?”
I mean … send a “How you been?” text every now and then – at least pretend to be my friend. If you’re going to use me, make a sincere effort.
But I don’t blame them for wanting to go to a Bobcats game. Because the Cats are on a roll and headed in the direction of the playoffs! That, and the arena hosts the biggest party in Charlotte… Club Bobcats shall we say… in the Frontcourt Lounge.
Right above the wall of The Frontcourt Lounge is a perfect view of the jumbotron – and you have a perfect view of it from the bar … which may I add, is tended by my favorite bartenders in Charlotte. Therefore, the Frontcourt Lounge has the biggest and best television of any sports bar, anywhere. The massive score board descending above the court which airs the action on the court better than any televised broadcast, definitely trumps a flat screen descending above a bar. Then again, there aren’t too many bars in the middle of a sporting complex … with a DJ and specialty martini making bartenders nonetheless. Two more points for the Bobcats!
So when the Clippers came to town, rather than inviting my friends and obliging those who half- effortlessly pretend to be before a big Bobcats game, I brought my new friends in town from Los Angeles… K-Ci & JoJo. The multi-platinum-Grammy winning-Charlotteans returned home to film their reality show for TV1. And despite the fact they’ve lived most of their lives in L.A., they’re Charlotte Bobcats fans! Even the show production crew from L.A. was cheering for the Bobcats. Apparently Bobcats fandom travels beyond the Queen City. And with the Bobcats on a one way train to the playoffs, pretty soon those in other cities will be texting their friends trying to get tickets for when the Bobcats come to town… just saying.
P.S. – Did you know that former Mayor Pat McCrory announced September 1 as K-Ci & JoJo Day in Charlotte? Perhaps we should implement a Gerald Wallace day for being the first ever Bobcat All-Star. All in favor, say I!
