Hey Bobcats Fans!! It’s Lady Cat Kristy!! What a great weekend it was to be a Bobcats fan! There’s nothing like a home win on Friday followed by a big win in Orlando with our Bobcats still fighting for a playoff spot! And that’s on the heels of the previous weekend’s back-to-back sweep of the Lakers and Warriors. Hopefully you were one of the 19,568 fans (RECORD CROWD) at the game vs. the Lakers! If not, you missed not only a great game, but a Lady Cats first! We were given the honor of being the halftime show…at the BIGGEST game of the year!
This is my fourth season as a Lady Cat, and I can say without hesitation this was our biggest performance yet (hopefully bigger things to come)! All the Lady Cats were excited but we knew it would be a lot of hard work. We were definitely up for the challenge though! After a few bumps and bruises, several late night rehearsals, running it over and over to get the sound and lighting just right and practicing super quick costume changes, we were ready!! The Lady Cats were able to showcase just how talented and versatile we really are!
Here’s a brief rundown of our performance! First, some girls showed their athleticism by incorporating lifts and tosses with their dance. They even added a little Latin flair! Those hips were movin’! Up next, a few of the LC’s created some really cool visuals with a fun glow-stick routine! Following them, our ballerinas took over. (I loved our entire performance but this section was my favorite.) These ladies showed strength, technique, emotion and grace as Danielle sang “What About Love”. My jaw dropped every time I watched them. Leaps, turns, acrobatics… all in unison, completely flawless! After that, we got back to being funky but with a little surprise in the middle. Tap dancing!! That’s right! The Lady Cats can do it all! I was in this part of the routine and was very excited to bring a new element to the court. As if this weren’t enough, Rhythm Cat Jacobi joined us!! He is such a talented young man! As usual, he WORKED IT OUT during his drum solo. As he played, a few Lady Cats joined him and showed off some really fast, upbeat, funky moves. This was the build up to our big finale! The entire Lady Cats team took the court for a high energy, crowd pumping hip-hop routine that ended with a bang (literally)!!
Finally, all the hard work had paid off! The end result, an amazing halftime performance that none of us will ever forget!!
Seriously, how many people can say they’ve been a NBA dancer and had the opportunity to perform during halftime in front of a sell out crowd? Not many!! I am a very lucky girl! It’s truly an honor to be a part of the Bobcats organization and to dance with some incredibly talented women! I certainly hope you guys enjoyed the Lady Cats halftime performance as much as we enjoyed performing for you!! Be sure to come to the game Wednesday, March 17 as we take on Oklahoma City… you never know what the Lady Cats might have in store for you! J
Cheers!!
