For anyone who thought Friday’s game against the Hawks at Time Warner Cable Arena would be a good test for the Bobcats, considered it passed impressively.

After putting together perhaps their best defensive effort of 2009-10 in a win over New Jersey on Monday, Charlotte played its best game of the young season in a 103-83 blowout over the Atlanta Hawks.

Everything that could have gone right for the Bobcats did go right:

  • Charlotte opened the regular season with a 3-0 record on its home court for the first time in franchise history.
  • The Bobcats matched their best start ever after five games, posting a 3-2 record – something they also did in 2007-08.
  • Raja Bell scored 24 points, including 5-6 from 3-point range, to lead Charlotte in scoring in just his second game back from a wrist injury that cost him the first three games of the season.
  • Flip Murray scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers in 18 minutes off the bench in his first game of 2009-10 after sitting out the first four games with a shin injury.
  • Tyson Chandler scored 10 points on a perfect 5-5 shooting and brought down 10 rebounds to record his first double-double as a Bobcat. He also added four blocks for good measure.
  • The Bobcats set season highs in FG% – .470, 3-PT% – .611 and assist-to-turnover ration – 24:15
  • Gerald Wallace continued his rebounding tear that saw him enter the game leading the league with 14.0 boards per game. He finished with 18 more tonight.

  • If you’re a Bobcats fan, you have to be thrilled after this one. For the first time all season, the team was healthy and you got a glimpse of what could be possible in 2009-10.

I liked what I saw and hope we can continue it on Saturday night in Chicago.

A great team win…all the pieces came together and i think this can be a very scary team mostly becuase of their effort….they were able to swing the ball for open looks,,,defensive effort was there and most of all Gerald Wallace has become a beast on the boards,,i hope the rest of the team take a cue from him and just hit the glass with that good things will happen for the Bobcats,,,
